Clinico-Statistical Study on Jaw-Bone Fracture

Abstract
The author studied the 95 mandibular fractures of 72 patients who were treated at our department in Busan National University Hospital from 1972 to 1976.
The results obtained were as follows;
1. Mandibular fractures were more prevalent in male (80.6%) and the highest age group was the second decades and the next was below 10 years old (22.2%).
2. The most important cause of the fracture was falling down (33.3%), the next was the traffic accident and the blow in the order.
3. The causes of the fracture below 10 years old and the first decade were mainly falling down and the second and third decades were mainly industrial accident and there was no case of the industrial accident in the age group below 10 years old and in women.
4. The 95 sites of fractures occurred in 72 patients were average 1.3 in frequency per a patient the most frequent site was the mandibular symphisis area (34.7%), and the compound :fracture occurred mainly in the traffic accident and industrial accident.
